FAQ

We use a non-AHRQ Survey for patient safety culture, will that count?

No. The new Florida law states that the latest versions of AHRQ Surveys on Patient Safety Culture must be used. Further, the law specifies some specific modifications that will need to be made. Florida organizations using other survey instruments will need to switch to the most current version of the AHRQ survey.

Will my safety culture survey results really be available to the public?

Yes. The first data submission period is set for June 1 – August 31, 2025. Although it may seem like there's plenty of time to prepare, there is not. We strongly encourage organizations to conduct the Patient Safety Culture Survey as soon as possible to ensure enough time to assess your current safety culture, act on the results, and survey again. Resulting in more positive perceptions of safety culture before the first submission period begins.

Is the cost of this service covered by the state or Florida Hospital Association?

No. Each organization is responsible for the resources required to conduct the survey, manage data, and submit information to AHCA. Organizations previously receiving services through the FHA or Partnership for Patients will need to budget for future surveys and submissions.

I already use Beterra for safety culture surveys, how is this different?

Florida healthcare organizations already contracting with Beterra Health will still have access to all of the software and prior survey results. A Beterra project manager will reach out to your team to clarify the AHCA submission process and discuss other resources available to Florida organizations.
